The superior commitment the BMW Group brings to sustainability is indicated by the fact that it continuously wins numerous international awards and takes top places in sustainability rankings published by independent bodies.

In 2018, the BMW Group once again took top places in prestigious environmental rankings and consolidated its leading position as a sustainable company. In the rankings for the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), which are based on economic as well as ecological and social criteria, the BMW Group has for years been listed as one of the most sustainable car manufacturers worldwide. Represented in the indices each year since they were established in 1999, the BMW Group took third place in 2019.

Add to this regular awards from the most diverse media and institutions over the years, of which the BMW i3 and BMW i8 alone have won more than 60 since 2013. Among them were such major accolades as the “Engine of the Year Award” for the BMW i8 powertrain or British Auto Express magazine’s New Car Award in the category “Electric Car of the Year” for the BMW i3.
