Information is presented to the motorist through three channels:
- graphically, in colour on the vehicle's in dash monitor
- visually, with arrows and a distance countdown function in the instrument display
- verbally, with a female voice advising of coming intersections and other instructions.
It is also possible to select "fastest route" - which is not always the most direct; "shortest route"; and a further function not yet necessary in New Zealand: "avoid toll roads".
If the user misses an intersection or deviates from the route, the voice prompt politely suggests they make a u-turn if possible. The system will re-calculate a new route if the car does not make a turn to return to the original route.
